Descripción
Sm. 8vo., Eighth Impression thus, with a coloured frontispiece, 47 coloured plates, 63 plates in monochrome and illustrations of skeletons in the text, and photographic endpapers toned in sepia; original series binding of green leatherette, upper board and backstrip blocked and lettered in gilt and black, radial corners, green sprinkled edges, a near fine copy in unclipped dustwrapper, the latter lightly browned at backstrip and with one short closed tear. First published in 1921, with a revised version with classified index following in 1939. Of the entire W&W series, Step's 'Animal Life' is possibly the volume with the greatest variety of dustwrappers. This copy features the coloured plate of the Badger mounted on front panel. A lovely copy of the W&W eighth impression, and very uncommon in this condition. See Marren, pp.154-156.
