About The Book: This public offering of a Bengali language dictionary is the result of dedicated efforts over several years, focusing specifically on this objective. Acknowledging the need for a comprehensive yet concise resource, the compiler sought to fill the gap between basic vocabularies and the extensive dictionaries available at the time. While recognizing the valuable contributions of predecessors such as Mr. Foster and Dr. Carey, the compiler aimed to rectify deficiencies and limitations in existing works. The objective was to create a practical and user-friendly tool for both European learners and native students, providing explanations in both Bengali and English. Endorsed by Bishop Heber and supported by the Incorporated Society, this work endeavors to enhance the study of the Bengali language.
