About The Book: The book contains a series of eighteen lectures on the study of true Buddhism, i.e., the Buddhism of the Pitakas or Pali texts. To create this account, the author has drawn the connection of Buddhism with Brahmanism, Hinduism, Jainism, and shown its contrast with Christianity. The book presents a comprehensive survey of the entire range of Buddhism, from its earliest origin in India to the modern developments in other Asiatic countries in 1890. The illustrations in the book also draw attention to the engravings on objects brought back by the author from Buddhist countries.
