A very early combined edition of the five Christmas books complete in one volume. Illustrated with eight plates from the first editions. 8vo, contemporary three quarter brown calf over marbled paper covered boards, the spine with raised bands gilt decorated, two compartments with contrasting red and green morocco lettering pieces gilt, the remaining compartments decorated with central gilt tooling gilt, page edges and endpapers marbled, back and corner-pieces chain-ruled in blind. 266 pp. A handsome volume, the contemporary binding solid and sturdy with very little evidence of wear, just some mild rubbing, the text is fresh and appears unused, one illustration in the Cricket story with closed tear repaired on the verso and reinserted into the volume.
