Large 4to (29.5 x 20.0 cm). viii, 376 pp.; 47 text figures, 12 lithographed plates with explanatory text leaves, one very large folded map with profiles, one large folded graph with a chronostratigraphy of the fossils. Contemporary half calf over marbled boards. Patterned endpapers. = A detailed study with much emphasis on the fossils, which are mainly trilobites and brachiopods, and include new species. The plates are on a slightly smaller format, but beautifully executed. The author, the Norwegian geologist Waldemar Christofer Brøgger (1851-1940), also widely spelled Brögger, was a son of the publisher, Anton Wilhelm Brøgger. Spine a bit sunned, a few light pencil marks, cancelled stamp on title, scattered light spotting, plates generally clean. A very good copy. Rare.
