Descripción

Third edition, 24pp., disbound. This pamphlet defends the rite of infant baptism, but rejects the idea that infants can have no salvation without it. Towgood was a Dissenting minister in Exeter, and an avowed Arian. He corresponded with John Wesley, and in 1755, John and Charles Wesley read together Towgoodís ìA Gentlemanís Reasons for his Dissent from the Church of Englandî, in preparation for their Conference at Leeds. Wesley described it as ìan elaborate and lively tract.î
