Paris, Panckoucke, [and] H. Agasse, 1791-1804. Large 4to (25.4 x 19.8 cm). xii, 760 pp. Contemporary quarter calf over marbled boards. Spine with gilt lines and red morocco label with gilt title. Marbled edges. = The very rare music section of the famous 'Encyclopédie', edited, and largely written by the French opera writer, and music theorist and critic Nicolas Étienne Framery (1745-1810) and his compatriot, the historian and writer Pierre-Louis Ginguené (1748-1816). It was published over a very long period of time - the hiatus of 23 years is quite exceptional. Therefore seldom found complete. In 1818 a second volume was published, which is not included. Corners a bit worn; small chip in shield; otherwise a very good copy.
