Gilt lines on the spine. = Rare first edition of this useful early guide to travelling geologists and mineralogists with "description des produits volcaniques apres la méthode de M. Faujas" and the "nécessaire du minéralogiste". The plate shows equipment necessary to all serious travelling geologists. Written by the French mineralogist and malacologist Cyprien Prosper Brard (1786-1838). Signed by the author, as customary in those days. Spine cover rubbed with the gilt abraded, some, mostly marginal, spotting, otherwise a very good, complete copy. Ward and Carozzi, 303.
