Illustrated with color plates, black & white facsimiles of documents, photographs, etc. Osman Hamdi Bey (1842- 1910) was an Ottoman administrator, intellectual, art expert and also a prominent and pioneering painter. In addition he was an accomplished archaeologist, and is regarded as the pioneer of the museum curator's profession in Turkey. He was the founder of Istanbul Archaeology Museums and of Istanbul Academy of Fine Arts. 12" high X 9" wide. Volume 2 only. Large heavy book, foreign shipping will be extra.
