This is a very good four volume set in the original softcover bindings, with just light wear to the edges of the covers. Covers rubbed. These are sale catalogs for auctions that were held by Sotheby's in New York over several years starting in December 1981 and finishing in December 1983. The sales consisted of Barbara Johnson's Whaling Collection artifacts. Part I, December 11-12, 1981, 511 lots; Part II: September 24-25, 1982, 533 lots; Part III: April 29-30, 1982, 488 lots; and Part IV: December 16-17, 1983, 645 lots. Almost all lots illustrated in black & white, some in color. Auction results sheets for all sales laid in. 9" square, unpaginated. The Swann Galleries catalogs are Part 1: Sale number 1737, on October 28 & 29, 1996. Part 2: Sale number 1766 on September 25, 1997.
