Original printed wrappers. = A thorough etnographical study of the indigenous people of the mountains of north Luzon, the northernmost large island of the Philippines. It deals with the Igorot and Bontoc culture groups. Included are chapters on social life, the family and its members and their life cycles; economic life, including agriculture, zooculture, clothing and weapon production, distribution (theft, conquest), consumption and transportation, commerce and property right; political life, war and head-hunting (receiving quite some attention), aesthetic life including tattoo, music, dancing, gaming, etc.; religion, mental life, folk-tales, and language. All usually described in great detail. The work is profusely illustrated. Cancelled stamp on front wrapper and title page; both detached, with some fraying and chipping, otherwise a very good clean copy.
