Sydney, W. A. Gullick, 1899. 8vo (24.0 x 15.4 cm). 197 pp.; 45 plates, one large, folded map. Blind pebbled quarter cloth over original printed boards. = First edition. Written by the Australian geologist Joseph Edmund Carne (1855-1922). With interesting photos of the mining industry at the end of the 19th century. The map shows mining divisions and districts in 1899. This is the original edition with the fine large map, not one of the mediocre reprints. Old vague stamp on title page and first text page margin. Otherwise a very good, clean copy.
