About The Book: "The Crowd: A Study of the Popular Mind" (French: Psychologie des Foules; literally: Psychology of Crowds) is a literary work authored by Gustave Le Bon, first published in 1895. Le Bon argues in the text that the psychology of crowds manifests diverse characteristics, such as "impulsiveness, irritability, incapacity to reason, the absence of judgment, the deficiency of critical spirit, the exaggeration of sentiments, and others." He posits that an individual, when immersed in a crowd, enters a distinct state, reminiscent of the fascination experienced by a hypnotized person under the influence of a hypnotist, whether through a magnetic effect emitted by the crowd or some other unknown cause.
