Testo inglese. Cm.18,8x11,6. Pg.IX, (1), 243, (1). Legatura in mz.pelle con titoli e fregi in oro al dorso. Piatti marmorizzati e tagli spruzzati. Fresca impressione su carta distinta. Ex libris Earl Cornwallis. Buona edizione di un poema in versi sul tema del giardino inglese, opera del poeta anglicano William Mason (Hull, 1724 – 1797), originariamente pubblicato in quattro volumi tra il 1772 e il 1782. Amico di Thomas Gray, Joshua Reynolds e Horace Walpole, fu anche disegnatore ed esperto giardiniere. La presente è la prima edizione in unico volume, completamente riveduta dall'autore, arricchita delle note di William Burgh (1741-1808). > Mitford, "The Correspondence of Thomas Gray and William Mason", 414, "Gray's opinion was very unfavourable to the publications of Mason's "English garden"; his friend Dr. Burgh did all he could in his excellent Commentary to redeem it.
