Romanzo di Francesca Alexander (1837-1917), nota anche come Fanny Alexander, scrittrice e illustratrice nata a Boston ma trasferitasi poi a Firenze. Il romanzo usci' nel 1893 con il titolo The story od Ida: Epitaph on an Etruscan Tomb (George Allen, Kent) e fu poi subito ripubblicato nello stesso anno a Boston e a New York. La storia di Ida racconta di una ragazza fiorentina morta prematuramente ed e' preceduta da un'introduzione di John Ruskin di cui la Alexander fu grande amica.
