Volume 1: frontispiece, engraved half-title, 22 plates plus text illustrations by Thackeray, VIII-382pp. Volume 2: frontispiece, engraved half-title, 22 plates plus text illustrations by Thackeray, VIII-376pp. Bruniture al margine delle pagine di titolo al volume 1 e qualche altra brunitura al retro delle illustrazioni a piena pagina. First issue of 1st edition with 'actresses for 'ancestors' pp 207 line 33 vol. 1, and chapters 47 and 48 misnumbered 48 and 49. Legatura coeva in mezza pelle a punte, dorso con dorature e doppio tassello, piatti con carta marmorizzata. Qualche usura ai margini e ai piatti, ma buone condizioni.
