About The Book: There is more to Transport than cars, flyovers, highways and expressways. This book argues that cars can coexist peacefully with pedestrians, cyclists and other road users with better social and traffic planning and Political will. There should be true Democracy on roads. In several Western Countries they are widening footpaths, providing more space for pedestrians and cyclists. So we have less congestion and pollution, we save Money and fuel and space. This is perhaps the only book of its kind in India, arguing for a clean, Green and humane transport. The growing environmental, climate crisis which threatens the very Survival of the planet demands that we adopt a more environmentfriendly system of transport. The book should appeal to all sections and looks at the Sociology of transport and its political, economic and social implications.
