Pianta della città con le ville tuscolane, tratta da ' Antiquae Urbis Splendor ' di Giacomo Lauro.Dedicata a Pietro Firlei, la tavola è firmata da Lauro, datata 1622; si basa sulla grande opera di Mattheus Greuter del 1620.Per la prima volta pubblicata nel 1612, l'importante e ricercata raccolta di vedute di Roma rappresenta l'opera più importante di Lauro e godette di una incredibile fortuna.L’opera, interamente illustrata con sintetici testi didascalici sulle bellezze e gli splendori di Roma antica e Roma moderna, venne ristampata ed accresciuta. Le edizioni posteriori fanno sempre riferimento alla data di pubblicazione del 1612.La data e lo stampatore sono, però, dedotti dalla dedica di Giovanni Alto (jan Alten) da Lucerna, curatore del volume, ai lettori. Dedicated to Pietro Firlei, the plate is signed by Lauro and dated 1622; it is based on the great work by Mattheus Greuter of 1620. First published in 1612, this important collection of views of Rome is Lauro's most important work and enjoyed an incredible fortune. The work, entirely illustrated with concise didactic texts on the beauties and splendours of ancient and modern Rome, was reprinted and enlarged. Later editions always refer to the publication date of 1612.
