Il quinto giorno, la creazione dei pesci e degli uccelli

Testo latino.Raffigura il quinto giorno della Creazione del Mondo, con la formazione dei pesci e degli uccelli.Tratta dalla monumentale opera di Hartmann Schedel, il Liber Cronicarum (edizione tedesca), che rappresenta uno “dei più straordinari lavori mai realizzati” dall’editoria del XV secolo. Gli incisori erano Michael Wolgemuth, e il figliastro Wilhelm Pleydenwurff. Wolgemuth fu anche il tutore di Albrecht Dürer tra il 1486 e il 1490; recenti studi hanno dimostrato come Dürer stesso abbia collaborato alla realizzazione di quest’opera; alcune opere sono infatti attribuite al maestro di Norimberga. La stampa venne supervisionata dal grande stampatore Anton Koberger, le cui opere erano famose in tutta Europa. Recent studies have shown that Dürer himself has contributed to the realization of this work; some works are in fact attributed to the master of Nuremberg.
