Sculp : La composizione deriva da un soggetto del pittore Gilles de Hondecoeter (1580 – 1638), ed è edita da Claes J. Visscher. La scena raffigura uno degli episodi più strani dell'Antico Testamento è la storia del profeta che dal territorio di Giuda si reca a Betel, dove incontra un altro profeta che lo inganna, persuadendolo a mangiare e bere con lui, violando l’ordine del Signore; sulla strada del ritorno, viene ucciso da un leone (1 Re 13). Magnifica prova, finemente acquerellata da mano contemporanea, impressa su carta vergata coeva con filigrana “stemma araldico con giglio”, con margini, consueta traccia di piega verticale centrale, in eccellente stato di conservazione. After a subject by painter Gilles de Hondecoeter (1580-1638) The scene appears ho show one of the stranger episodes in the Old Testament: the story of the man of God from Judah who confronts Jeroboam, sticks to his commitment to Yahweh, gets tricked by another prophet, and then gets killed by a lion (1 Kgs 13). Magnificent proof, splendid contemporary hand-colouring, printed on contemporary laid paper, watermark "coat of arms with fleur-de-lis", with margins, usual trace of central vertical fold, in very good condition.
