Trionfo di un imperatore romano

Bulino, 1603, in alto a destra, titolo latino seguito dalla firma dell’artista e la data: 'Antonii Tempeste Florentini inventoris opus Romae anno salutis 1603’; in basso, nel cartiglio a sinistra, la lunga dedica latina a Raimondo ai Torri/ Raimondo della Torre firmata dall’artista Servus humilissimus Antonius de Tempestis Floren.s'. Nell’ultima riga al centro, l’excudit e la data 'Gaspar de Albertis formis 1603’, più in basso a sinistra, la notizia del privilegio”; nel cartiglio a destra, legenda numeri di 42 rimandi in numeri romani. Stato unico.Bella prova, ricca di toni, impressa su due fogli di carta vergata coeva, ciascuno con filigarna “aquila nel cerchio”, uniti al centro e rifilati ai margini, traccia della piega centrale, alcuni fori di tarlo e restauri eseguiti al verso, nel complesso in buono stato di conservazione.Le due tavole mostrano un trionfo di un imperatore romano; la processione, che comprende gruppi di soldati, prigionieri, elefanti, carri colmi dei bottini di guerra, parte dal basso a destra e attraverso due archi trionfali giunge a un tempio romano pieni di bottino di guerra, e l'imperatore su un carro in basso a sinistra. Le due vignette in basso raffigurano rispettivamente: un sacrificio, a destra, e l'imperatore che divide il bottino in basso a sinistra.Alcuni dettagli della serie derivano dalle incisioni di Etienne Dupérac del 1565, che illustrano il De triumpho commentarius di Onofrio Panvinio. Only state.Good example, printed on two sheets joined together of contemporary laid paper, center fold, some restorations on verso, each sheet with watermark “Eagle in the circle”, trimmed at margins, some restorations on verso, generally in good condition.The two plates show a Triumph of a Roman emperor; procession leading from bottom right through two triumphal arches to a Roman temple at top left, including groups of soldiers, captive prisoners, elephants, chariots full of the spoils of war, and the emperor in a chariot at lower left; with a sacrifice at lower right and the emperor dividing the spoils at lower left; with an explanatory key at lower right.Some details of the series derive from Etienne Dupérac's etchings of 1565, illustrating Onofrio Panvinio's De triumpho commentarius.Very rare work.
