3 vols., 8vo., original red tweed cloth, backstrips blocked in black and lettered in silver, a near fine set in unclipped dustwrapper, the wrappers lightly browned at backstrips. Dustwrapper artwork by Michael Harvey. The set comprises 'Portrait of Elmbury' (1966), 'Brensham Village' (1966) and 'The Blue Field' (1971). Bright, crisp set of one of the most elegaic and best-loved accounts of the English countryside of the twentieth century. Based loosely on Tewkesbury and Bredon (Gloucestershire and Wiltshire respectively), the three novels together paint an unforgettable image of a rural England long passed. Writing only twenty years or so after Hardy's death, Moore rekindles the spirit: 'the finest countryside writer of his generation' (Compton Mackenzie). COMPLETE SETS ARE SCARCE IN THIS CONDITION.
