Description
London, The Zoological Society of London, 1873, 1878. 4to (31.5 x 25.0 cm). 57 [42; 15] pp.; 14 [11; 3] lithographed plates. Without wrappers (Part I) and in original printed wrappers (Part II). = With a general introduction on the distribution of stony corals in deeper and colder waters and the history of this discovery, and with the descriptions of many little known and new species. The second part was published much later. Therefore, complete sets are rare. Very well illustrated. Written by the British zoologist Peter Martin Duncan (1824-1891) whose main works were on corals and Echinodermata, but also translated a work by Blanchard as "The transformations or metamorphoses of insects". A very good, clean set.
