First edition, 8vo (203 x 128 mm), [2], viii, 510pp., some occasional spotting, endpapers lightly browned from turn-ins, cont. calf, rubbed, upper joint cracked, red morocco spine label lettered in gilt. Little is know of Dr. Stevens other that he held a practice in Bath and he was a Fellow of the Royal Academy of Sciences at Bath. All his publications are rare and include An essay on the diseases of the head and neck, 1758, and A treatise on the medicinal qualities of Bath waters, 1758. ESTC locating a single copy in the UK (Kings College, London); one in Spain (Universidad Complutense de Madrid); and 2 copies in North America (Countway Library of Medicine and U.S. National Library of Medicine).
