8vo., Second Edition, with frontispiece and 16 plates on 14, free endpapers lightly spotted; blue cloth, gilt back, a very good, clean copy. Valuable and very readable account of nineteenth century life on a large farmstead at Saddlescombe in Sussex. This is the much-needed re-issue (itself now hard to find) of the original edition published by Dent in 1938.
