2 vols., First Edition, half-titles, 2 coloured lithograph plates, [Baths of the Furnas, and Islands of Fayal from Pico], vignettes on titles, 27 illustrations in the text, xiv, 375, [1]; ix, [1], 390, [2] pp., later quarter calf, raised bands, spines gilt in compartments, a fine copy. The authors spent the winter of 1838-39 on the Island of St. Michaelís, the summer at the baths of the Furnas, and in the spring visited the neighbouring islands of Fayal, Pico, St. Georgeís, Flores, and Corvo.
