Dust jacket not price clipped or marked or torn with minor wrinkling and slight rubbing to upper edge. 173pp. An account of growing up in the Midwest at the end of the 19th century by a man who was a deckhand when the survivors of the Custer battle were brought home, who, aged 9, hoped the Indians wouldn't come charging down his street after the Battle of Wounded Knee. He later lived for seven years amonst the Omaha Indians and produced a major study of the Oglala Sioux and later wrote the renowned Black Elk Speaks.
