Previous owner's stamp inside front board. No other marks or inscriptions. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked boards and small bump to upper rear corner. Dust jacket not price clipped or marked with tiny tear/rubbing to upper edge. 340pp. Biography of Benjamin Outram, who was a leading engineer of the early Industrial Revolution. He only lived 41 years but in this time he worked on the canal systems of Derby, Nottingham and Nutbrook in the East Midlands, the Ashton and Peak Forest Canal in the North West including the masterpiece Marple Aquduct, the Huddersfield Canal and the Brecknock & Abergavenny Canal in South Wales. He also developed an improved system of horse-drawn railways.
