FIRST EDITION of this novel by Pierre Mille. Apparently this copy belonged to Charles Péguy (1873-1914): laid in is a rather mysterious autograph letter signed from Mille to Péguy, complete with the envelope addressed to Péguy at 8 rue de la Sorbonne (the offices of Cahiers de la Quinzaine). This copy is furthermore ONE OF ONLY TEN SPECIAL COPIES PRINTED ON HOLLANDE (number 2), the only large-paper issue. 8vo. Original wraps. ENTIRELY UNCUT. The tiniest wisp of wear, else FINE AND BRIGHT.
