A clean very tight copy with unmarked boards, sunned spine and front margin, slightly dusty page edges and bump to lower front corner. 326pp. Set in Germany. this is a novel about the coming of age of the class of 1902. It was censured by the Nazis because of its unflattering descriptions of Germany during the First World War and its favourable reference to liberal ideals.
