This catalog was published when the new Ishikawa Prefectural Museum opened in 1983, to show the range of its' stunning collections. Long known as a rival to the museums in Tokyo and Kyoto, the Ishikawa Prefectural Museum is one of Japan's finest museums. This catalog is divided into two parts: before Edo period and after Meiji period. Each part has sections on: ceramics, lacquerware, textiles, metalwork, swords and armor, wood, and bamboo crafts. The second part has a long section: Japanese and Eastern style painting, watercolor painting, drawings and sketches. prints, sculpture and calligraphy. Thousands of works catalogued and illustrated in black & white images. Also a color plate section with about 50 plates. 10" high X 7" wide, 498 pages.
