Description
Paris, Muséum d'Histoire naturelle de Paris, 1858. Large 4to. (31.6 x 24.7 cm). Drop head title, 33 pp., four finely hand-coloured engraved plates. Disbound. = Important paper on the mammals of west-central Africa with the descriptions and illustrations of new species including civet cats and genet cats. The fine illustrations are by the anatomist and illustrator Jean-Charles Werner (1798-1856). Published in the Muséum's Archives, volume 10. Uncut. Light, mostly marginal spotting to the text and, slightly, to the plate margins, otherwise a good unmarked copy.
