Edizione originale, rara. Nota e importante opera polemica di Joseph De Maistre (1753-1821, fratello di Xavier) , illustre ed eloquente filosofo cattolico assolutista favorevole ai Gesuiti e contrario alla Rivoluzione Francese, amico di Necker e di Mme de Staël, divenne ambasciatore a St. Petersbourg.
