Leiden, P. Somerwil, 1875. 8vo (22.2 x 14.5 cm). 99 pp.; two folded lithographed plates. Original embossed red cloth with gilt title on the front board. Gilt edges. = Rare contribution on the cirripeds by, arguably, Darwin's successor, the Duch marine zoologist Paulus Peronius Cato Hoek (1851-1914) who later - on the advise of Darwin - would describe the Cirripedia of the Challenger Expedition. Spine cover chipped and discoloured, boards also rather faded, some light spotting, otherwise very good. Not in Nissen.
