Description

Mareschal (for the Académie de la Rochelle), 1870. 8vo (21.5 x 14.7 cm). 102 pp.; Original printed wrappers in protective blind, yellow wrappers. = A seldom-seen early catalogue of the natural history of a western (Atlantic) French province, mainly dealing with insects, but in fact recording everything between whale and foraminifer. Mollusca occupy pp. 94-96. Compiled and written by the French politician and naturalist Charles-Édouard Eugène Beltremieux (1825-1897). In the preface, the author thanks the Parisian malacologist Paul Fischer for identifying the molluscs. A very good copy.
