Description
Stuttgart, Schweizerbart, 1835. 8vo. Frontispice, viii, 24 pp., eight engraved plates. Original printed wrappers. = A rare work on the use of plants (flowers, leaves) and minerals (crystals) in medieval German architecture. The author, Johann Christian Metzger (1789-1852) was a German horticulturist, landscape architect, biologist and "Grossherzoglicher Garten-Inspektor" in Heidelberg and Karlsruhe. The frontispiece shows a gothic door of Heidelberg castle. Uncut. Wrapper edges a bit frayed and chipped; some foxing due to the quality of the paper, otherwise a very good copy.
