Speckled edges. = First published half a century earlier by the German mineralogist Karl Cäsar Von Leonhard (1779-1862) in 1830, this fourth and final edition was much expanded by the Austrian malacologist and palaeontologist Rudof Hoernes (1850-1912), reflecting the enormous growth of geoscience in the second half of the 19th century.
