Description
In-8° (cm. 21,3), legatura in m. pelle maculata e punte, titolo in oro su tassello marocchino, sobrie decorazioni al dorso, tagli rossi; pp. XXI [1b] 92 in buono stato, brunitura al frontespizio, qualche coeva correzione ms. del testo. Rarissimo libro del politico francese esule a Londra, che riporta alcune delle sue brillanti critiche alla Rivoluzione. Politico colonialista, schiavista e naturalmente monarchico, Malouet (1740-1814) aveva difeso a Parigi le minoranze antigiacobine con abile oratoria, e costretto all'esilio si adoperò per salvaguardare gli interessi francesi nelle colonie di Santo Domingo, Martinica e Guadalupe firmando l'accordo di Whitehall (impegno al mantenimento della schiavitù in cambio dell'annessione all'Impero britannico).
