Description
Presentation plate to Franciscus Keating 1876 inside front cover. Bookseller stamp on reverse of front end paper. No other marks or inscriptions. No creasing to covers or to spine. A very clean very tight copy with bright unmarked leather boards, marbled end papers, very minor rubbing to ribbed spine, clear gilt lettering/design to front and spine, nick to top of one page, all page edges gilt and no bumping to corners. 167pp. Front cover gilt lettering 'Merenti Collegium Stonyhurst' indicates the award was presented to a student of Stonyhurst the oldest Jesuit school in the world in Clitheroe Lancashire. On the title page it states New Edition. Preface on 31 pages. The poems are Horatius, Battle of the Lake Regillus, Virginia, The Prophecy of Capys, A Song of the Huguenots, Ivry and The Armada (fragment). Scarce edition.
