Description
Washington, C. Alexander [for the National observatory], 1851. 4to. 126 pp. and one additional leaf with a typed index. Later full cloth with gilt title on the spine and front board. = This is a rare offprint. It includes numerous tables. some underlining in the text. Maury wrote the famous first textbook of modern Oceanography, The physical geography of the Sea (1855), which is common - in contrast to this earlier publication. The typed index is a useful addition. Some underlinings; scattered, mostly marginal spotting, otherwise very good.
