Description
Neurenberg, Bauer & Raspe, 1842. 4to (28.5 x 22.0 cm). 84 pp. 14 (of 15) hand-coloured plates. Original printed front wrapper. = A rare and early part of the new edition of the "Martini-Chemnitz" Conchyliencabinet which was published between 1837 and 1920. Küster was the founder but only wrote a few parts including this one on Recent Brachiopoda (with seven plates), and Ostreidae (in the wide sense, i.e., including Gryphaeidae, Plicatulidae, Anomiidae, etc). Lacks plate 15 (with oysters). Complete for the Brachiopoda. Edges a bit chipped, more so to the last (14th) plate. Some text leaves a bit spotted. Otherwise very good. Nissen ZBI, 2723.
