8vo., First Edition thus, with portrait frontispiece, and 22 illustrations (a number full-page) and 37 maps (the majority full-page) in the text; handsomely bound in full dark green crushed morocco, sides with gilt frame border, back with raised bands, second and fourth compartments lettered and ruled in gilt, all other compartments tooled in gilt, gilt top, hand-made endpapers, ribbon marker, an elegant copy in custom-made board slip-case. One of the most important memoirs to emerge from the German side of WWII. Translated from the German 'Erinnerungen eines Soldaten', it gives for the first time 'the authoritative inside story of the origin and development of the military machine which made possible Hitler's blitzkreig'.
