AN APPARENTLY UNRECORDED PRINTED BROADSIDE, AN EDICT FROM HOLY ROMAN EMPEROR CHARLES V concerning the legal rights of the clergy and other matters. One large sheet, printed recto only. Beautifully printed in Latin on extremely fine, thick laid paper with deckle edges all around. Large woodcut initial "C" (for "Carolus Quintus") at beginning of text. Signed "Carolus" in black letter (Gothic) type. 32.5 x 44 cm. An old fold crease down the middle with tiny closed tears at each end, else FINE AND BRIGHT. A REMARKABLE SURVIVAL.
