2 vols., folio, First Edition, with coloured frontispieces (original tissue guards present), titles in red and black, 15 fine coloured plates (all original tissue guards present), 14 plates in collotype and numerous illustrations fron photographs; original burgundy buckram, upper boards and backstrips lettered in gilt, covers very lightly age-marked else a very good, bright, clean, crisp set. EDITION LIMITED TO 550 NUMBERED COPIES OF EACH VOLUME (FIRST SERIES NO. 524; SECOND SERIES NO. 272). Arguably the most elusive of Millais' splendid monographs. The coloured plates are by Beatrice Parsons, Winifred Walker, E.F. Brennand and Archibald Thorburn.
