Signed HE Bates to title page. No other marks or inscriptions. No creasing to covers or to slightly sunned spine. Very clean very tight pages with minor damp effect to lower rear corner - no effect inside book, a little foxing, lightly tanned page edges, slight rubbing to spine ends and no bumping to corners. 414pp. A novel which follows the life of Bruno Shadbolt from 1873 to 1931 based around a great house in Northamptonshire. Tucked in is a copy of an obituary of the author from The Times 1974. Scarce signed copy.
