On upper cover De Rossi’s dedication to Alessandro Serpieri (‘Al Chiarissimo P. A. Serpieri omaggio affettuoso dell’Autore’).
The present copy offers a good evidence of the close relationship among the Italian seismological community in the second half of the 19th century: a paper on the tromometer invented in the early 1870’s by Bertelli and perfected with observations by De Rossi, and sent to a third Italian scientist, Alessandro Serpieri.
