4to., First Illustrated Edition, on laid paper, with a coloured frontispiece (original captioned tissue guard present), coloured title-vignette and 20 fine coloured plates (all original captioned tissue guards present), free endpapers mildly browned, neat contemporary signature on front free endpaper, original blue pictorial cloth, upper board elaborately blocked and lettered in gilt with small coloured illustrated (not repeated in text) mounted in oval frame, gilt back, gilt top, uncut, a very good, bright, fresh copy. Farnol's tale was first published (in unillustrated form) in 1913. Uncommon in this condition. Kelly p.162.
