In 8° (cm. 20,5 x 14); pagg. XXVI, 445; con 5 tavv. f.t. e 56 incisioni n.t.; tela origin. con titoli oro al dorso e fregi a secco; dorso lievemente sbiadito (sunned), ma esemplare ottimo. VG. ** Esemplare molto bello della New (seconda) edition. (Cfr. Neate T75). Tyndall, famoso per la sua devozione alla scienza, che lo portò a compiere notevoli imprese alpinistiche, divide l’opera in due parti. Nella prima, narrativa, descrive due ascensioni al M. Bianco, due al M. Rosa e spedizioni nell’Oberland, in Tirolo, ecc. Nella seconda (da pag. 223) le teorie sui ghiacciai che lo portarono a polemizzare con Forbes.
