Coimbra, Junta de Investigacoes de Ultramar, 1973. 4to (24.6 x 17.1 cm). 195 pp.; full colour frontispiece of Da Gama, mounted. 17 "figures" (mostly page-sized or larger plates). Embossed green cloth with gilt title on the spine and gilt vignette on the front board. = A well-illustrated work - deals much with early cartography (notably with Africa and the Atlantic coasts). With a handwritten, signed and dated dedication by the author. Small stamp on title page, otherwise a fine, clean copy.
