The plates in early state with page numbers rather than the later issued plates with captions under the illustrations. Engraved frontispiece and title-page and with forty-three engraved illustrations by R. Seymour and H. K. Browne, ‘Phiz’. 8vo, bound in contemporary cloth, lettered in gilt on a red morocco label on the spine. xiv, 609 pp. A handsome copy, with some expected wear to the extremities. The plates with the typical browning or melowing.
